A drunk 45-year-old Worcester County man went berzerk on two Central Massachusetts police officers this week as they tried to speak to him about a pair of stolen jet skis, authorities said. Police are asking for the public's help to track down a man they say is behind multiple cases of identity theft and thefts from multiple banks. Shrewsbury police say he's stolen money from UniBank and Rockland Trust, but they have reports of a man matching his description pulling similar scams in Worcester, Milford, Grafton, Quincy, and Braintree. Students waiting at a bus stop in Worcester County were smart enough not to fall for a man's trick to get them in his car, but police are asking for the public's help to find him before he tries it again. The man approached several kids in the Shrewsbury Commons Wednesday morning, March 15, and said their parents had called an Uber to take them to school, the Shrewsbury Police Department said. Two from Worcester were arrested in a stolen vehicle that was involved in a later attempted theft at a Massachusetts postal facility, police said. Seven children and their bus driver were injured after crashing into a tractor-trailer in Massachusetts, police said. Officers from the Shrewsbury Police Department were dispatched to Avalon Way shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, where there was a report of a crash involving a truck and school bus. New Shrewsbury Police Chief Sworn In
Shrewsbury has a new police chief: former interim chief Kevin Anderson. Anderson was promoted to the full chief on July 20, according to a town-issued statement. He is a 26-year veteran of the Shrewsbury Police Department and, before taking on the interim role, was Detective Lieutenant, Detective Bureau Commanding Officer. Anderson first joined the Shrewsbury Police in 1994 as a patrolman. As chief, he will oversee a department with 64 employees serving a town of about 38,000 residents.
