A Worcester County Superior Court jury has found a man guilty in the fatal shooting of Joshua Lopez in 2020.
Leroy L. Thompson Jr., 30, of Worcester, was convicted of second-degree murder and reckless endangerment of a child on Thursday, Aug. 7, the Worcester County District Attorney's Office said.
The shooting occurred early on July 5, 2020, when Lopez, 24, was shot while sitting in the backseat of a car on Almont Avenue in Worcester. A child was also in the vehicle at the time. Lopez succumbed to his injuries on July 6, 2020.

A Coast Guard veteran from Virginia admitted to luring an alleged rapist to a national park in Ohio before gunning him down, authorities announced this week.
Chelsea Perkins, 35, of Alexandria, pleaded guilty to driving more than 300 miles across state lines after arranging to meet Matthew Dunmire at Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Valley View, Ohio.
According to prosecutors, Perkins, who reportedly became an OnlyFans model, traveled in March 2021 to the national park, where she and Dunmire visited the Terra Vista Natural Study Area.

A 27-year-old Massachusetts man admitted in court on Wednesday, Sept. 25, that he fatally stabbed his roommate two years ago, authorities said.
Devin Bryden, 27, of Northampton, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the slaying of Jana Abromowitz, 21, in July 2022 the Northwestern District Attorney said. A judge sentenced him to life in prison.

Robert Durst Indicted For Murder Of First Wife, Westchester DA Announces
The Westchester County District Attorney announced that Robert Durst has been indicted for the 1982 murder of his first wife, Kathleen Durst.
Durst, age 78, was charged in an indictment on Monday, Nov. 1, with second-degree murder, District Attorney Miriam Rocah announced.
He is accused of murdering Kathleen Durst in the Northern Westchester hamlet of South Salem in the Town of Lewisboro on or around Jan. 31, 1982, Rocah said.
Durst was previously charged in a complaint filed on Oct. 19, with second-degree murder, the DA's Office reported.
