Salem State Student Killed In Halloween Night Shooting Near Campus: DA An 18-year-old Salem State University student was shot and killed in a car near the Essex County college Wednesday morning, Nov. 1, authorities said.  Police received a 911 call just before 1:30 a.m. about a shooting near 22 Forest Avenue. 911 Caller Makes Fake Shooting Threat Against Greater Boston Area School: Police The Salem Police Department is trying to track down an anonymous 911 caller who made several threats of violence against a local school. The caller made several false reports of shots fired, profanity and hang-ups to police against Collins Middle School on the morning of June 10, police said on Facebook. The caller also said he was going to stage a shooting at the school, according to police.  The department later determined the threats as not credible but have increased their presence at the school out of precaution. The investigation is ongoing.
