A 49-year-old Worcester County former retail manager must repay the money he stole and pay nearly $90,000 in back taxes after he admitted to a payroll scheme at his former company, authorities said. Anthony Prizio, of Blackstone, was sentenced to three years in prison on Monday, June 24, after he pleaded guilty in February to six counts of wire fraud and one count of tax evasion, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. A 32-year-old former post office employee who admitted to stealing mail must pay restitution to his victims, but he won't serve jail time, federal authorities said. Juan Murillo, who admitted to taking two iPads bound for a Harvard University dorm and cash from an envelope he was delivering, was sentenced to a year of probation and $2,400 restitution, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. A Massachusetts woman has been sentenced in federal court in Worcester to stealing Social Security benefits from her dead mother-in-law. Former Worcester County resident Sue E. Delaney, age 68, who was a resident of Luneburg, was sentenced to six months of home confinement and two years of probation on Tuesday, Aug. 10, said the state US Attorney's Office. A nationally known celebrity chef known as “Lord of the Pies” who owns restaurants in Westchester and Fairfield counties will spend time behind bars after admitting to not paying taxes. Bruno DiFabio, age 51, of Ridgefield, was sentenced on Thursday, May 6 to 30 days in prison, followed by three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to a federal tax offense in 2018. Bank Robber With A Bomb Sentenced To Over 2 Years In Prison
A man who threatened to blow up banks if he didn’t get the money he wanted, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison. The bank robberies happened at TD Bank in Worcester and East Boston Savings Bank in Revere. Samuel Jose Baptista, 27, of Boston, was sentenced on Thursday, Oct. 29, to prison as well as restitution of the money stolen from the banks - about $30,000 - and two years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts.
