Cop Charged In Memphis Beating Death Played High School Football In Connecticut
A former Connecticut high school football player has been identified as one of the five Memphis Police officers charged in the beating death of Tyre Nichols during a traffic stop on Saturday, Jan. 7. Officer Desmond Mills Jr. lived in Hartford County and graduated from Bloomfield High School where he also reportedly played football. Pace University in Westchester County unveiled a mural in their Kessel Student Center to commemorate the memory of Danroy “DJ” Henry, Jr., a student-athlete who was shot and killed by a police officer more than a decade ago. Right-Wing Extremist Kicked Out Of UMass Is Arrested For Hoax Bomb By BLM Sign
A local man who was kicked out of UMass Amherst last year for being racist was recently arrested after planting a fake bomb alongside a Black Lives Matter sign in New York. Louis Shenker, 22, who told police that he lives in Amherst, called Brooklyn Police around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5, to arrange for his surrender, according to the Daily News. An officer was knocked to the ground, pepper-spray was used, and a truck drove through protesters during opposing, side-by-side rallies on Sunday, Nov. 1.
