If you're a wanted man, it pays to obey the speed limit. At least, that's what a convicted kidnapper wanted for a parole violation in Berkshire County found out this week. Arthur Jones III was arrested on Sunday, Aug. 6, following a routine traffic stop in Hinsdale, Hinsdale police said. The officer pulled Jones over for speeding just after 4 p.m. and realized he had an active warrant for his arrest, authorities said. Out On Bail: Teen Arrested For Third Time On Gun Charges In Springfield
A Hampden County teenager who was wearing an ankle monitor from his last arrest was caught for a third time on firearm charges this week, authorities said. Jahiem Sutherland, 19, of Springfield, was wearing an ankle monitor as he was out on bail on an illegal firearms charge when officers arrested him Wednesday evening, June 7, Springfield police said. Officers found an illegal large-capacity, loaded ghost gun on Sutherland with an illegal modification called a Glock switch, which makes it fully automatic, authorities said. Wanted NY Felon Evades Capture After Police Chase In Springfield: Report
A fugitive wanted out of New York escaped arrest Thursday night, Dec. 8, after leading police on a chase through Springfield, Western Mass News reports. The unnamed fugitive crashed their car near Roosevelt Avenue and Bay Street and ran away, the outlet said. The passenger remained in the car and was arrested on a parole violation, police officials told the new station. Officers on Friday said they were still searching for the suspect. A convicted drug felon with a GPS tracking system around his ankle found himself running in with the law once again, authorities said. Edwin Harrison, age 43, of Springfield, was slapped with several charges after he was arrested following a drug deal in the city around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, Springfield Police report. Police responded to a report of aggressive panhandling and found an unregistered sex offender on Monday, Dec. 21. Police were called at around 4:30 p.m. to respond to Plaza Liquors on Union Street in West Springfield for a report of “an aggressive panhandler harassing customers,” police said. Stolen Cars From MA, CT Suburbs Keep Winding Up In Hartford
Stolen cars from all around the area keep winding up in Hartford. On Friday, Sept. 18, Hartford Police said they have recovered another five stolen vehicles and one stolen firearm. The recovered cars are from Simsbury Storrs Berlin West Hartford Longmeadow, MA. The gun was stolen from Glastonbury, police said. Getaway Driver In Two CT Bank Heists Admits Guilt; Has History Of Bank Robbing
A career bank robber from New Haven has admitted to being the getaway driver in two recent Connecticut bank robberies. Gary W. Bornman, 58, of New Haven, waived his right to be indicted and pleaded guilty Friday, July 31, to two counts of bank robbery, according to the Department of Justice U.S. Attorney’s Office, Connecticut. Over his lifetime, Bornman has admitted to or has been found guilty of robbing at least a 10 banks.
