The owner of a popular Connecticut restaurant announced plans to close the business due to the hardships of the past few years.
Litchfield County staple The Cookhouse, located in New Milford, is set to permanently close on New Year's Day, owner Rob Ryder announced on Wednesday, Dec. 14.
"We have had 25 wonderful years serving New Milford, Litchfield County & greater Connecticut, but our business has never recovered from COVID," he said.

Police Locate Car In Crash That Killed Fairfield County Man
Police have located a car that hit and killed a Connecticut man and then fled the scene.
The crash took place in Litchfield County around 5:11 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8, in New Milford.
Fairfield County resident Galo Rafael Guaman-Sarmiento, age 61, of Danbury, was crossing Danbury Road when he was struck by a 2013-2016 black Ford Fusion, said the New Milford Police.
The driver, who has not been found, fled the scene, and Guaman-Sarmiento was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police have been searching for the Fusion since the crash and located it on Saturday, Nov. 12, police said.

Police In CT Ask Public For Help Finding Missing Engagement Ring
Police are asking the public for help locating a missing engagement ring.
A diamond engagement ring was left on a sink at a Cumberland Farms in Litchfield County, located at 376 Danbury Road in New Milford, between noon and 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, according to the New Milford Police Department.
Police said the diamond was described as lab-grown and pear-shaped and "certified by IGI, serial #LG12098907, G color, VS1 clarity, no fluorescence, .82 carats."
The serial number is etched onto the diamond, police said.

CT Woman Killed In Four-Vehicle Crash On I-84, State Police Say
A Connecticut woman was killed and four others seriously injured during a four-car crash on I-84.
The crash took place in Hartford County around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11 in Farmington, said the Connecticut State Police.
According to state police, the crash occurred when two vehicles in the east lanes of the highway collided.
Troopers said they don't know what caused a 2007 Ford F150 driven by Sean C. Jackson, age 56, of Bloomfield, and a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Monica A. Collins-Saatci, age 37, of Middletown, in Middlesex County to collide.
