Tornado Watch Issued For Much Of Region, With 60 MPH Wind Gusts, Hail Also Possible
As a slow-moving storm system barrels through the Northeast, a Tornado Watch has now been issued for much of the region until 3 p.m. Sunday, July 16. It includes parts of southeastern New York -- Long Island, as well as Westchester, and Putnam counties -- as well as all eight counties in Connecticut, and the following counties in Massachusetts: Berkshire, Essex, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, Middlesex, and Worcester. Mass Police Sgt. Rescued From NH Mountains After Suffering Medical Emergency
A Chelmsford police sergeant was rescued over the weekend after he suffered a medical issue while hiking in the New Hampshire mountains, authorities said. Weather grounded rescue choppers and forced crews to walk five miles into the woods to find and carry him to safety. Sgt. Mass Man, 77, Dies After Van Crashes Into New Hampshire Bridge: Police
A 77-year-old man from Massachusetts was killed after his van crashed into part of a bridge in New Hampshire this week, according to authorities. New Hampshire State Troopers responded to the crash on I-95 North in Seabrook around 8:11 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, the department said on Facebook. A missing 15-year-old Auburn girl said she was raped by a 58-year-old New Hampshire man on Monday, May 15. Mark Goumas was tracked down on Tuesday and charged with aggravated statutory rape greater than a 10-year age difference and indecent assault and battery on a person over 14 years of age, Auburn police said. Mass Man Admits Filming Himself Steal Dozen Firearms From Federal Licensee
A 19-year-old Massachusetts man admitted to breaking into a federal firearm licensee in New Hampshire and trying to steal a dozen firearms — and filming it, authorities announced. Gary Ortiz Jr., 19, of Haverhill, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to steal firearms from a federal firearms licensee, U.S. Attorney Jane E. Young said. He was indicted last July.
