Despite the best efforts of state troopers, a 23-year-old man died early Tuesday morning, Oct. 10, when his car crashed into a median on I-495 in Norfolk County, authorities said.
Sage A. Woodward, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, crashed his BMW on the highway near mile marker 35.2 in Plainville around 3:45 a.m., Massachusetts State Troopers said. The car landed in water, but the vehicle burst into flames, which started a small brush fire.

Police are investigating an inexplicable, fatal single-car crash on Route 2 Monday, Nov. 16.
On Tuesday around 10 p.m., Massachusetts State Troopers responded to a report that a vehicle had struck an abutment of the Otter River Road Bridge along Route 2 in Templeton, police said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2103 Mazda 3 sedan was traveling east on Route 2 when, for reasons still under investigation, the car drove off the roadway to the left and struck the concrete structure supporting the bridge, police said.
