Fire Destroys Home, Kills Pets: Central Mass Family Asks For Help Rebuilding Their Lives A Uxbridge woman hopes the public will help her rebuild after her family lost everything in a fire on Monday, May 29.  Brianna Watson created a GoFundMe to help replace some of the items lost in the fire, including nearly all of the toys and things that belonged to her three young boys — ages 6, 4, and 1, according to her fundraiser.  So far, the campaign has raised just over $12,000 of its $20,000 goal from more than 150 donors.  Luckily, the family wasn't home when the fire started, she wrote. Cooking Fire Blamed For Killing Man, Injuring 2 Western Mass Firefighters State fire investigators said the fire that killed a Western Mass man on Friday, April 7, was a cooking fire that got out of hand.  Holyoke firefighters were called to the 19 Donlee St. home just after 1:15 p.m. High winds fueled the flames inside the two-story house and kept fire crews at bay for 30 minutes as they tried to beat back the conflagration, the state fire marshal said.  They found the older man dead inside the home once firefighters got in. Local Musician ID'd As Victim In Fatal House Fire A small town had its first fatal fire in 20 years on Wednesday after a person died in a home that did not have smoke alarms. On Wednesday, Nov. 11, around 10:20 p.m., firefighters were called to a fire at 31 Glen St., in Douglas. When they arrived they saw a fire blazing in the back part of the house. There was one person in the home, Keith Bemis, 62, at the time of the fire and he died, firefighters said.
