The cause of death has been released for a popular actor who was born and grew up in the region.
The death of Alec Musser, age 50, was announced last weekend on Instagram by his fiancée Paige Press, who lived with Musser in Del Mar, California, north of San Diego.
According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Officer, Musser died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A 37-year-old man recovering from a gunshot wound at Baystate Medical Center is charged with a Thursday, Aug. 31, killing, authorities said.
Thomas Whitlock, of Springfield, is charged with murder, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and discharging a gun within 500 feet of a building, Springfield police said.
The shooting happened at 9 a.m. on Leland Drive, where police found a man bleeding from a bullet wound, police said. Paramedics rushed him to Baystate Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

The death of a previously missing woman from Massachusetts, whose body was found in Vermont, has been ruled a homicide, authorities said.
Mary Anderson, age 23, of Harvard, Mass., died from a gunshot wound to the head, according to Vermont State Police.
Anderson was originally reported missing when she did not return home from visiting friends in Hudson, N.H., on Sunday, July 17. Anderson's body was later found in the same vehicle she was last seen driving in Brattleboro, Vt.

Double Arrest Made In Recent Boston Homicide
Two men have been arrested in connection with a recent homicide in Hyde Park, authorities said.
Pierre Valbrun, age 20, of Roxbury, and Jonathan Thebaud, age 32, of Brockton were wanted in connection with the shooting death of Trevor Sands on October 10, 2021, Boston Police said.
Officers responded to a report of a person shot in the area of 22 Ayles Road in Hyde Park, where they found Sands suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

CT Woman Shot Approaches Cop For Help, Police Say
A middle-aged woman who was shot in Connecticut is expected to survive, but police are still searching for details surrounding the crime.
The incident was uncovered around 8:30 a.m., Saturday, July 31, in Hartford County when a Hartford Police officer was approached by a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg in the area of 354 Woodland St.
The victim, a female in her 50s, was transported to an area hospital for treatment, said Lt. Aaron Boisvert.

26-Year-Old Dies In Connecticut Shooting, Police Say
A 26-year-old Connecticut man was shot and killed overnight.
The shooting death of Amauris Flores, of Hartford, was discovered around 11:04 p.m., Tuesday, March 30, when Hartford Police responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the Westland Street area, said Hartford Police Lt. Aaron Boisvert.
When officers responded to the area, they did not find Flores, but they did find a crime scene located at 187 Westland St., Boisvert said.

A man wanted in connection with the shooting death of a Connecticut man has been nabbed in Massachusetts.
Jordon Register, 28, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 4, in Massachusetts by the Massachusetts State Police Fugitive Unit and Springfield Police for the Friday, Jan. 29, murder of Michael Dudley, 27, of Durham, said Hartford Police Lt. Aaron Boisvert.
