The crash happened when a work van collided with a Keissling Transit van carrying several adults with special needs and staff members on Brook Street just after 8:30 a.m. to HMEA, authorities said.

The driver of the work van was treated on the scene and released, a Clinton fire captain said. Firefighters took the others to receive care out of precaution, and they had no other means of transportation. The most serious injury appeared to be a broken wrist, though that could not be verified with HMEA staff.

Police did not cite the driver of the work van, authorities said.

Crews from Clinton, Lancaster, Sterling, and Bolton helped as it was considered a "mass casualty" event, the fire captain said.
