Noelle Tarrant, 41, of Jamaica Plain, was arrested and charged with multiple offenses when police spotted her car just before 2 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, according to Reading police.

Police saw her Mazda on Main Street in Reading facing the wrong direction, with a child in the backseat and the car still running. When officers tried to rouse Tarrant, she woke and drove toward Jacobs Way and Augustus Court. She crashed into a curb before pulling over, Reading police said.

Police said she smelled of alcohol and had an expired driver's license.

Authorities charged her with a marked lane violation, operating under the influence of alcohol, child endangerment by OUI, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, and driving without a license, Reading police said.

The child was not injured and was turned over to a family member, police said.
