A Massachusetts man is behind bars after state police say he tried to con his way into a Pennsylvania home by posing as a cop. Thomas Rooney, 25, was arrested in Hempfield Township after a resident called police about a suspicious encounter on Friday morning, Jan. 31. The victim told troopers that Rooney knocked on her door, identified himself as a Pittsburgh police officer, and asked to come inside. Police ID Worker Killed When Home Under Construction Collapses In Weymouth; 4 Others Injured
A 29-year-old construction worker died Thursday, Jan. 28, after a house under construction collapsed in Weymouth, officials said. Mario Diaz Obando was critically injured when the structure on Vine Street came down around noon, according to Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey. He was rushed to South Shore Hospital, where he later died. He was one of five workers injured when the house collapsed. A doctor who's been accused of sexually assaulting more than 200 women and several men in a lawsuit is now charged with raping two patients at a medical center in Framingham, authorities announced. A Massachusetts man who was severely injured in an apartment fire over the weekend has died, authorities said. The man, a Lynn resident in his 40s, was found unconscious on the third floor of a six-family apartment building at 104-106 Lewis St. around 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, the State Fire Marshal's Office said. Authorities have opened an investigation after a woman's body was found among the remains of a fire in a wooded area in Somerville, officials said. The fire was reported just after 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, and quickly consumed a small encampment off Alewife Brook Parkway and Broadway, the State Fire Marshal's Office said.
