Do You Agree With Elon Musk's Efforts With DOGE?
- Yes
- No
- I Have No Opinion On It
The billionaire tech mogul, now a central figure in former President Donald Trump’s fight against the bureaucratic state, took to X to amplify posts alleging that most suspects arrested in connection with the attacks are trans or nonbinary.
There is no evidence supporting that claim. However, according to the New York Post, at least one person charged with firebombing a dealership is a trans woman.
He also reshared tweets claiming trans people were more violent than the rest of the population. There's no evidence backing up those claims, and studies have repeatedly shown trans people are far more likely to be the victims of violent attacks than the perpetrators.
Musk’s anti-trans tweetstorm erupted just 12 hours after his estranged 20-year-old transgender daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, called him a “pathetic man-child” in an interview with Teen Vogue.
Wilson criticized her father for his sharp political shift to the far right in recent years and referenced the controversial gesture he made following former President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
“The Nazi salute sh*t was insane,” Wilson said. “That sh*t was definitely a Nazi salute.”
Musk has denied any Nazi connection, claiming the gesture was misconstrued.
Meanwhile, Tesla owners nationwide have discovered their vehicles vandalized with swastikas and the word “Nazi” spray-painted on them.
Three individuals were arrested this week for allegedly throwing Molotov cocktails at Tesla dealerships in Salem, Oregon; Loveland, Colorado; and Charleston, South Carolina, according to Axios. Authorities say the incidents do not appear to be connected.
Much of the backlash appears to stem from Musk’s leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency — or DOGE — which has slashed budgets across multiple federal agencies and resulted in the firing of thousands of government workers.
However, courts have repeatedly overturned those moves, ruling that many of Musk’s actions required Congressional approval.
A recent Fox News poll found that 58 percent of Americans disapprove of Musk's actions while 40 percent support his efforts. However, when broken down by party the numbers are far for jarring as 78 percent of Republicans approve of his work while 93 percent of Democrats don't.
