Central Mass Man Helps Save Friend After He Fell While Rock Climbing In NH A 24-year-old Worcester County rock climber was able to help save his friend's life on Sunday, May 28, after his fellow climber slipped and fell nearly 50 feet on a rock face in New Hampshire, authorities said.  Peter Kittredge, 24, of Whitinsville, was climbing Cathedral Ledge in the Barber Wall area with Matthew Allen, 24, of New York, when Allen fell. It happened around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9 in Ulster County at the Mohonk Mountain Preserve in Gardiner An investigation revealed that Lauren Sobel, 25, of Brooklyn, was a lead climber in a group of three in the area of the Trapps Trailhead, State Police from the Highland barracks said. Rock Climbing Gym Coming To Hackensack A new rock climbing gym will soon be coming to Hackensack, city officials announced. Goat Climbing Gym will be located at 77 River St., across from the Heritage Diner at the former bank space, Deputy Mayor David Sims said. This will be the third rock climbing gym in Bergen County, the others being Gravity Vault in Upper Saddle River and High Exposure in Northvale. No word yet on an opening date. Check back for more.
