New Tropical Storm Milton Takes Aim At US Coast: Here's Projected Track, Timing For Landfall
A newly named tropical storm is on a projected path toward the US coast. Just before 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, Tropical Depression 14 was upgraded to Tropical Storm Milton. Located in the Gulf Coast, it's expected to strengthen and "bring the risk of life-threatening impacts to the west coast of Florida next week," according to the National Hurricane Center. The current projected landfall is Wednesday morning, Oct. 9 on Florida's Big Bend. (See the image above.) There's a new threat in the tropics as millions of Americans are still reeling from Helene, which devastated the Southeast after making landfall in Florida's Big Bend as a Category 4 hurricane. 5 Tornadoes Hit NY During Round Of Severe Storms, With 1 Fatality Reported
One person was killed during a two-and-a-half hour span when at least five tornadoes touched down in New York State this week, the National Weather Service announced following a survey of the damage, and more confirmations could be coming. The time frame for the twisters on Tuesday afternoon, July 16, was from 3 p.m. to around 5:30 p.m. Four of the five were rated an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita scale, the second-weakest of the six levels. Massive System Will Bring New Rounds Of Severe Storms, Possible Tornadoes: Here's Timing
A massive system stretching from the Midwest to the East will bring separate rounds of severe thunderstorms to the region amid high heat and humidity. According to the National Weather Service, the primary threats are locally damaging wind gusts that can down trees and power lines, along with heavy rainfall.
