78-Year-Old Man Killed In Westford I-495 Multi-Car Crash Massachusetts State Police are investigating the cause of a multi-car crash in Middlesex County on Thursday, Aug. 29, that killed a 78-year-old motorcyclist.  Troopers were called to the crash site near Exit 83 of northbound I-495 in Westford just before 3:30 p.m. after a Harley Davidson switched lanes and crashed into the back of an Alfa Romeo SUV that was stopped in traffic, State Police said.  The impact sent the bike careening into a Chevrolet Impala.  The rider died from his injuries. Worker Killed At Central Mass Quarry ID'd As Townsend Man A 67-year-old Middlesex County man was identified as the worker who was killed when a rock ledge fell on Thursday, Aug. 22, and crushed an excavator at a Massachusetts quarry.   Brian Curtis Derby, 67, of Townsend, died just before 8 a.m. when the rocks fell on his heavy machinery at the Sterling quarry along Stone Crest Way, the Worcester County District Attorney said.  Firefighters and crews worked through the day and night to retrieve Derby's body from beneath the rubble.  Sterling leaders ordered that workers stop all earth removal operations until the Occupati…

Griswold Crash Leaves Massachusetts Trucker Dead A 42-year-old Middlesex County, Massachusetts, man died after crashing his truck down an embankment along I-395 in Connecticut. Tim Murray, of Ashby, crashed his Freightliner truck in Griswold, New London County between Exit 24 and 28 around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8 Construction had closed the southbound right-hand lane of the highway. As Murray merged into the left lane, his 2019 Freightliner hit a guardrail. Murray corrected the truck but not before striking another section of the guardrail.  The truck tumbled down an embankment. Authorities pronounced Murray dead at the scene.…

Unruly Man, 74, Charged With DUI At Private Darien Club, Police Say An unruly 74-year-old man was charged with allegedly driving while intoxicated after police were called to a private Fairfield County beach club. Peter Welsh, of Middlesex County in Marlborough, Massachusetts, was arrested on Wednesday, June 19, at the Tokeneke Beach Club in Darien.
