Walgreens To Close 1,200 Stores
Walgreens plans to close about 1,200 stores over three years amid a decline in prescription drug payments and a rise in online competition. About 500 closures will come in 2025, the company announced in a statement released Tuesday morning, Oct. 15. Specific sites for store closures were not announced. 'Pharmageddon': CVS, Walgreens Protests Spread As Workers Seek Better Conditions
Around a thousand pharmacy workers across the country have walked off the job as part of a strike to protest conditions. The so-called "Pharmageddon" series of walkouts at pharmacy chains including CVS and Walgreens stores started Monday, Oct. 30, and is expected to continue at least through the middle of the week. Pregnant Mass Native, 37, Killed In Apparent Murder-Suicide In Arizona
A 37-year-old pregnant woman originally from Massachusetts was one of the victims of an apparent murder-suicide in Arizona last month, according to authorities. Sarah Scott, a Melrose native, was found shot the death along with 27-year-old Jacob De Zeeuw and 6-year-old Jacob at Phoenix home on Tuesday, March 21, Phoenix Police report. Investigators later determined that De Zeeuw fatally shot Sarah and Jacob before turning the gun on himself. Walgreens Recalls Pain-Relieving Product Due To Packaging Issue
Walgreens is recalling some bottles of its Acetaminophen pain reliever for not being child-proof, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said on Thursday, June 16. The over-the-counter, 150-count bottles failed to meet the packaging, required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA), and means young children could be poised if they swallow the pills.
