Dog Near Death Rescued 'Not A Moment Too Soon' In Brookline; Authorities Searching For Owner A 3-year-old golden retriever mix — emaciated and in dire need of help — was found wandering the streets in Brookline last week. Now, animal welfare authorities are looking for who allowed the dog to become so ill.  Rescuers found the dog, who they are calling Brooke, near the intersection of Newton and Clyde streets in Brookline on Wednesday, Jan. 24, MSPCA officials said Monday.
