: Gunshot Prompted Rescue Of Paraplegic Man From Stoneham 2-Alarm Fire
Firefighters rescued a paraplegic man after multiple calls reported a house on fire and the sound of gunshots, officials say. A fire broke out on 590 Main Street in Stoneham around 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, rendering the house a "total loss," the Stoneham Fire Department told Daily Voice. Reports of gunshots sent a Stoneham police sergeant rushing to the rear of the building, where he found a man who had tried to rescue a trapped paraplegic man by firing a shot at a locked door, according to a Stoneham Fire Department statement. Melrose Mayor Honors Cops Who Helped Rescue Elderly Couple From Burning Home
Two Melrose police officers who helped an elderly couple get to safety when their house was on fire recently received commendations from the city's mayor. Officers Cole Hinchey and Allen Troche responded to an alarm call on Brunswick Park around 3 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11. Wakefield Firefighter Hospitalized From Battling Afternoon 4-Alarm House Fire
One firefighter was hospitalized after firefighters from several departments joined forces to put out a four-alarm fire at a Wakefield home, authorities said. Wakefield fire was first to the fire that broke out at 26 Eastern Avenue around 11:35 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, the department said. Upon arrival, crews found flames shooting from a house.
