New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez was convicted on corruption charges Tuesday, July 16. The jury found Menendez, a Democrat, guilty on all 16 counts after prosecutors accused him of giving secret information and military aid to Egypt in exchange for various favors, according to a release by the US Department of Justice. A 28-year-old Staten Island woman has been charged in a crash that left a 31-year-old Bayonne theater teacher dead, authorities said. Amanda Rivera faces charges of aggravated assault, reckless manslaughter, and assault by auto weeks after sending her the 2019 Nissan passenger car she was driving into the back of a parked tractor trailer on Route 185 and Linden Avenue in Jersey City on Feb. 3, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Woman Wanted For Assaulting Officer In New Jersey Snagged In Massachusetts
A Bronx woman wanted in New Jersey for assaulting a police officer was recently arrested in Boston, authorities said. An individual approached officers about a woman who was harassing another commuter, who she also spit on, at South Station around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, MBTA Transit Police said. Officers later learned that the woman, later identified as Pia Weber, was wanted for assaulting a police officer in Hudson County, N.J. Weber was arrested for being a fugitive and taken to TPD's headquarters for booking.
