'Swatting' Hoax Threats Send Multiple Massachusetts School Into Lockdowns
Multiple Massachusetts schools have been forced into lockdowns because of fake gun and bomb threats, otherwise known as "swatting" incidents, over the past four days. "Swatting" is defined as "the action or practice of making a prank call to emergency services in an attempt to bring about the dispatch of a large number of armed police officers to a particular address," according to Oxford Language. 30-Year-Old Billerica Man Dies In Chelmsford Car Crash On New Year's Day: Police
A 30-year-old man from Billerica has died in a rollover crash that happened on New Year's Day in Chelmsford, authorities said. Police responded to the single-vehicle crash near 143 Littleton Road around 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1, according to Chelmsford Police Chief James M. Spinney. Upon arrival, crews found a gray car that had struck two utility poles and rolled over. The driver, who was the only person inside the car, was suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries. A 71-year-old Maine man was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 6, after he was hit while crossing Maple Road in Chelmsford, authorities said. Witnesses said the man was crossing the street near Byam Elementary School around 4:30 p.m. when a Toyota minivan smashed into him, officials said. The 60-year-old Chelmsford woman behind the wheel remained on the scene and was cooperating with investigators. Two Killed After SUV Hits Deer In New England
Two people were killed on when their SUV hit a deer on a busy roadway in Massachusetts. The incident took place in Middlesex County on I-495 in Chelmsford around 4:50 a.m., Friday, June 3. When troopers arrived on the scene they discovered a 2016 Nissan Rogue driven by a 53-year-old Acton man in a stand of trees in the median, said Trooper Brandon Doherty.
