A lottery drawing that featured a $1 billion jackpot needed one Middlesex County man a $1 million check. Brendan Stewart, of Waltham, won $1 million in a Powerball drawing on Wednesday, July 19, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery. The first five numbers on Stewart's ticket, purchased at Global Montello/Gulf at 821 Main Street in Waltham, matched the digits chosen in the drawing.
