A Massachusetts man who participated in races and triathlons from a wheelchair pushed by his father is being remembered as a pioneer in advocacy and inclusion. Rick Hoyt, a man with quadriplegia who competed in 32 Boston Marathons, died at age 61 from complications with his respiratory system, according to the Hoyt Foundation. Rick began his racing career in 1977, when he asked his father, Dick Hoyt, to help him participate in a run to benefit a Lacrosse player who had been paralyzed in an accident. I think it's the most beautiful city,” she said in an interview with Daily Voice. “You have so many different types of...views of the city and wonderful running routes that you don't really get in many metropolitans.” Keane, …

Recovering Addict Running Boston Marathon To Get Others Back On Their Feet
After his first Boston Marathon was the "pinnacle" to his own recovery from drug abuse, a Worcester resident is running a second time to help others discover their own worth. Matt Norton's passion for running came while he was overcoming a detrimental drug addition. The "gradual" addiction stemmed from Norton's college years where he owned the reputation of being “that friend that people would call for a good time,” he said in an interview with Daily Voice. Drinking and smoking in his early 20s progressed to experimenting with cocaine, molly and ecstasy by his mid-20s. However, there wa…

Doping Could Cost Boston Marathon Winner Diana Kipyokei Her 2021 Title
Boston Marathon winner Diana Kipyokei could potentially lose her 2021 Boston Marathon title after she was suspended for testing positive for doping at the race. The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) revealed that Kipyokei's sample, which was taken on October 11, 2021 after her victory, contained traces of triamcinolone acetonide. The medical cream, commonly used to treat various kinds of skin conditions, contains a glucocorticoid that is banned at races unless an athlete has permission to use it. Kipyokei has now been charged with using the product and tampering wi…
