A Tewksbury deli that opened its doors nearly 40 years ago will soon be closing for good. Deli King, located at 885 Main St., will be serving its customers Greek and American cuisine for the last time on Tuesday, Jan. 30, WCVB first reported. Brother-in-laws Dimitrios Gomatos and Arthur Agganis first opened the cafeteria-style restaurant in Tewksbury in 1989. Firefighters Rescue Animals From Burning Home In Fire That Displaced 6 In Boston
A blaze that tore through a two-family home in Brighton displaced several people and pets and caused around $250,000 worth of damages. Fire crews arrived at 343 Market St. on Sunday evening, Dec. 3, around 10 p.m. to stop the blaze in the attic of the building, the Boston Fire Department said. The family of a 32-year-old father of one has raised nearly $16,000 after he was gunned down in an Allston parking lot last week in a shooting that left another person injured. Marcos Alfonso Sosa, of Lynn, was shot dead across from 12 Glenville Ave., behind 161 Harvard Ave., on Saturday, Nov. 25, according to Boston police. A Massachusetts truck driver was injured in a tractor-trailer rollover that closed a Route 16 exit ramp for hours, officials say. The tractor-trailer, which belongs to Ram Transport Inc. of Allston, rolled over on Wednesday, May 17 around 10:15 a.m. when its driver attempted to merge from Route 16 onto Know Marsh Road, according to New Hampshire State Police. An Everett man who police said tried to take a hostage following a 2021 bank robbery in Allston admitted to his role in the crime this week, federal authorities said. Jamaine Howell, 36, pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery and one count of using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to, and possessing a firearm in furtherance of, a crime of violence in the February 2021 robbery, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. A 33-year-old Boston man who police arrested with pounds of fentanyl and methamphetamines in a hotel room was sentenced to nearly a decade behind bars, federal authorities said. 54-Year-Old Massachusetts Man Killed In I-90 Motorcycle Crash In Boston
A 54-year-old man from Waltham has died in a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in Boston, authorities said. Mark Ganong died after apparently losing control of his Harley Davidson and striking the median while traveling eastbound on the Mass Pike (I-90) in Allston around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, June 27, Massachusetts State Police said. The incident closed the left lanes of the highway until about 2:30 a.m. the next day, police added. No other information was released. The crash remains under investigation.
