Family members of Eduardo Gomes, of West Yarmouth, told police around 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23 that was last seen around 1 a.m. the same day, Yarmouth Police said on Facebook.
Search parties located the car Gomes was driving at the Sandy Pond Recreation, located off Buck Island Road in West Yarmouth, as well as a flip-flop along a path.
Upon finding the flip-flop, Yarmouth Police activated a search and rescue team that found Gomes' body in the water a few feet from the shore. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
