The Braintree Police Narcotics Unit searched a commercial business on Mill Lane in Braintree where officers discovered an illegal THC edible/gummy operation on Friday, Dec. 16.
The space was furnished with commercial kitchen equipment and packing materials including a large, high-end laser printer intended for printing packages for the edibles, police said.
Inside, officers discovered "numerous sheets" of THC gummies on cooling racks along with thousands of gummies in various flavors that were already packaged. Each package contained about 10 gummies and were valued at $50 each.
Officers also found 17-liter bottles containing various amounts of THC oil, some of which were full. These bottles typically sell for between $2,500 and $3,000, according to Braintree Police. Overall, detectives estimate the street value of all the gummies seized to be well over $100,000.
The business has been rented since about 2020 and the owners were not involved in the operation, police added. The town also had no information about the kind of business conducted at the building.
Several people, who were not identified, will face various charges to include manufacturing a Class D drug and trafficking in marijuana, police said.
