David Cerasuolo, a resident of Plainville in Norfolk County, was sentenced to eight years in prison and five years of supervised release, according to Rachael S. Rollins, the United States attorney for the District of Massachusetts.

Cerasuolo pleaded guilty to one count of attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor and one count of possession of child pornography on Friday, March 4, the US Attorney's Office said

Beginning in June of 2020, Cerasuolo used chat applications to communicate with an undercover federal agent who he believed to be a 13-year-old named Amy, the announcement said.

For nearly six weeks, he sent more than 1,000 text messages to “Amy,” including one that contained an obscene photograph of himself, Rollins reported.

The US Attorney's Office said Cerasuolo also tried to get "Amy" to take and send photos and videos of herself to him and tried to convince her to meet him in person to engage in sexual activity.

During a search of his home, Cerasuolo was found in possession of child pornography on his cell phone, according to the announcement.
