State police said the man's body was found in the Neponset River near the Neponset Valley Yacht Club at 25 Wharf St. in Milton. Divers were called to the scene just after 9 a.m. and located the corpse just after 11 a.m., authorities said.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy on the body to determine the cause of death. Police are investigating how he ended up in the frigid river.
Police found identification material on the body belonging to a man who has been missing from Suffolk County since December. The Norfolk County District Attorney declined to release any identifying information until police have confirmed it.
This is the second day in a row that state police divers have pulled a body from a river.
A man died in the Charles River in Boston on Monday morning. Witnesses told police they saw him struggling to stay afloat around 11:30 a.m. near Longfellow Bridge, police said.
Divers found his body just after 12:45 p.m.
Police did not release the man's name, but a spokesperson said the victim pulled from the Charles River appears to be a homeless man.
