Raymond Roberts, of Fall River, won six $25,000 a year for life prizes in the lottery's Lucky for Life game in a drawing that took place on Wednesday, Dec. 14, lottery officials report.
Roberts said his "intuition" pushed him to buy multiple tickets with the same numbers, which were a combination of anniversary dates and birthdays, lottery officials said. Roberts has consistently played those numbers in multiple games for over 20 years.
Roberts claimed his prize at the Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters in Dorchester, opting for the $390,000 cash option on five of his prizes for a total of $1,950,000 (before taxes). The veteran plans on spending part of his prize on a new motorcycle.
Roberts bought the winning tickets at the Royal Liquors, located at 4263 North Main Street in Fall River. The store will get $30,000 in bonuses ($5,000 for each of the six tickets) for its sale of these tickets.
