Drunk Boater Rescued From Sinking Ship Off Long Island, Then Arrested: Police
A drunk boater off the coast of Long Island crashed his vessel, leading to a rescue and his ensuing arrest, police said.
Christopher Carlson, 48, of Patchogue, was piloting his 2004 30-foot Grady-White boat in the Great South Bay near Sayville around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Carlson struck an object in the water and called 911 to report his boat was sinking, authorities said. SCPD’s Marine Bureau arrived on scene and removed Carlson from the boat, cops said. No one else was on board.

Orangetown resident Jamie O'Connell died on Tuesday, Aug. 25, after battling cancer for 12 and a half years, according to her loved ones.

Two adult men are accused of escalating a dispute between teenage boys in Westchester County by making them fight to settle it, police said.
The incident unfolded at Somers Commons at 80 Route 6 in Somers on Wednesday, Aug. 19, following an ongoing dispute between two Mahopac boys, ages 14 and 15, New York State Police announced on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
