World War II Era Letter In Bottle Discovered By Woman During Tropical Storm Debby Shortly after Debby made landfall along Florida's west coast as a Category 1 hurricane earlier this month, it produced something no forecaster — or anyone else — could have predicted. Suzanne Flament Smith, age 46, of Tampa, discovered it on Wednesday, Aug. 7, in the form of a World War II-era artifact. She said she found it while collecting debris in the city of Safety Harbor. It was a bottle sealed by a cork. Inside was a handwritten letter from a location in Virginia over 800 miles away near Virginia Beach. 'There's A Grenade In My Car': Man's Comment Spark Response In Stow — More Dud Than Deadly A man prompted a full response from multiple police and firefighter agencies in Middlesex County after he walked into a building and reported that he had found a grenade in the trunk of his car.  Stow first responders and members of multiple bomb squads rushed to the area on Friday, March 22. Police cleared the area around 2:15 p.m. and bomb techs prepared to get to work.  The man was telling the truth.
