Tropical Depression Ida was weakened by the time the storm rolled through Massachusetts, but it still caused headaches for some area residents as it brought rain and whipping winds.
Thousands in Massachusetts reported outages overnight, as the remnants of the storm made its way through the region, causing flooding, closed roadways, downed trees, and power lines.
As of 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2, the day after the storm rollicked the region, more than 3,000 Eversource customers in Massachusetts were still reporting outages as crews worked around the clock to make repairs.

Ida, now a tropical depression, is sweeping toward the Northeast with periods of heavy rain, gusty winds, flash flooding expected in the region with isolated tornadoes possible.
Ida is moving through the central Appalachians as it heads northward, with an enhanced risk of tornadoes across parts of the mid-Atlantic on Wednesday, Sept. 1.
Significant and life-threatening flash flooding is likely from the Mid-Atlantic into southern New England, especially across highly urbanized metropolitan areas and areas of steep terrain, the National Hurricane Center said.
