43-Year-Old Man Hit, Killed By Train In Western Mass A 43-year-old Western Massachusetts man was killed after he was struck by a train Thursday morning, Nov. 21, authorities said.  The unnamed Deerfield man was hit around 8 a.m. on the tracks on South Main Street near Thayer Road, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said.  The cause of the crash remains under investigation.  According to Amtrak, the Valley Flyer Train 471 was traveling from Greenfield to New Haven. A stretch of I-95 in Connecticut has now fully reopened three days after a fire involving a tanker with 8,500 gallons of gas days earlier. Northbound lanes on the stretch in Norwalk reopened Saturday evening, May 4. Lanes opened on the southbound side reopened late Sunday morning, May 5, earlier than had been expected.
