A 67-year-old Middlesex County man was identified as the worker who was killed when a rock ledge fell on Thursday, Aug. 22, and crushed an excavator at a Massachusetts quarry. Brian Curtis Derby, 67, of Townsend, died just before 8 a.m. when the rocks fell on his heavy machinery at the Sterling quarry along Stone Crest Way, the Worcester County District Attorney said. A worker at a Worcester County rock quarry was killed on Thursday, Aug. 22, when a rock ledge collapsed on his excavator, authorities said. Police Probing 'Unattended Death' At Sterling Police Station
The Worcester County District Attorney's Office is investigating an "unattended death" at the Sterling Police Station last week. "Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and Sterling Police continue to investigate the June 23 unattended death at the Sterling Police Department," a spokesperson for the district attorney said. "Authorities are awaiting autopsy results which include toxicology reports." Officials did release any information on the person or if they were in custody.
