Methuen Man Drowned Trying To Save Child At Salisbury Beach: DA
A man who drowned after he swam out to save a child in Salisbury on Wednesday, Sept. 20, has been identified as a 44-year-old father of four. Gary Simard, of Methuen, was hanging out with his family at Salisbury Beach when one of his children was pulled out to sea and could not swim back, the Essex County District Attorney's Office said. Simard and two other bystanders swam out to save the child. The two others pulled the child back to shore, but Simard went under the water, officials said. 71-Year-Old Pulled From Massachusetts River ID'd As Local Musician 'Bahama Bob'
The body of a "staple on the local music scene" on the North Shore was pulled from the Merrimack River on Tuesday, authorities said. Robert Urzi, better known to his local community as "Bahama Bob," was found near the Whittier Bridge on the morning of July 5, Newburyport Police said on Twitter. The body of a 71 y/o male was located in the Merrimac River near the Whittier Bridge this morning. His name is being withheld pending notification of family.
