An hours-long standoff between a crossbow-wielding man who barricaded himself inside his Western Massachusetts home and state police led to the arrest of a suspect without any reported injuries. Man Charged With Assault, Battery Of Police In Hampden County
A Western Massachusetts man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting several police officers as they attempted to arrest him. Hampden County resident Norman Lafond, age 44, of Springfield, was arrested around 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14 after Ludlow Police received calls of a suspicious male. According to Ludlow Police, callers told officers that Lafond was allegedly falling all over the road and into snowbanks. A police officer in Western Massachusetts was hospitalized after being attacked by an unruly customer who was making a scene at an area CVS, authorities announced. In Hampshire County, officers from the Northampton Police Department responded to CVS on Main Street at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, where there was a report of a man inside the store causing a disturbance. Two Western Massachusetts men were arrested following a road-rage incident in which the two allegedly showed a gun. The incident took place around 10:20 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 9, in Hampden County when Holyoke Police officers responded to a report of road rage involving two area men in a silver Infiniti who reportedly showed a gun during the altercation. Two Western Massachusetts men were arrested after allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint at an area car wash. The incident took place in Hampden County around 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 8, when Springfield Police responded to a car wash on the 1300 block of Boston Road for a report of a disturbance. The man wanted on a host of charges who fled from Massachusetts State Police into a wooded area was tracked down and arrested. A Massachusetts man was apprehended on Long Island for allegedly crashing into multiple vehicles and attempting to flee the scene in an occupied FedEx truck.
