Bear Escapes Capture After Breaking Into Garage Looking For Grill At CT Home
A black bear managed to "let itself out" of a garage and escape after breaking in in search of a grill that had been used earlier in the day. The incident took place in Hartford County at a home on Walnut Hill Road in Hartland on Sunday, May 21. State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection officials responded to the home, but by the time they arrived the bear had let itself out of the garage without assistance, said DEEP spokesman Paul Copleman. Second Moose Killed In Crash On CT Roadway
A second moose has been hit and killed in Connecticut by a vehicle on the same day. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) says the moose was killed in Hartford County around 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, in Hartland on Route 179. No injuries were reported in the crash. The moose was an approximately 550-pound male and was estimated to be 1 to 2 years old, DEEP said. Officials Investigating Cause Of Death For Woman Found At CT State Park
State officials are investigating the cause of death of a woman found dead in a Connecticut pond. The 76-year-old Litchfield County woman was located on Thursday, Aug. 25 in Torrington, near land surrounding Burr Pond. The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was found by first responders who located the body just off the shoreline at the state park, said Paul Copleman, media relations manager for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
