1 Dead, 1 Critical After Central Mass Stabbing; 17-Year-Old In Custody A 20-year-old man is dead and a teenager is in critical condition following a stabbing Friday night, May 3, in Worcester County.  Police received a 911 call just before 9:30 p.m. for a report of multiple stabbing victims at the Town Common in Northbridge. Lisa Smith, of Northbridge, won the seven-figure sum playing the “$2,000,000 50X Cashword” $10 scratch-off game.  She chose to take the lump-sum payment of $650,000 (before taxes) rather than the annuity. She plans to buy herself a new car and take her two children to Disney World with the cash.  Smith bought the ticket at Cumberland Farms, 2222 Providence Road in Northbridge. The store will get a $10,000 bonus for the sale.

Covid-19: Virus Outbreaks Recorded In 11 School Districts Last Week This past week, 11 Massachusetts public schools experienced COVID-19 outbreaks of 9 or more students and staff coming down with the virus. The largest outbreak was recorded in Leominster. From March 4-10, 21 of the school district’s students (15) and staff (6) reported positive cases. The Massachusetts Department of Secondary and Elementary Education produces weekly reports on positive COVID-19 cases reported in each school district.
