A Massachusetts bicyclist who died while competing in a race in Vermont last month was dedicated in several areas of his life, but perhaps his biggest passion was helping others. Though, the circumstances surrounding his death are still unknown. Officers discovered Brown's body in the BFI landfill along Airport Road on Aug. 29, 2005, with few clues to help investigators ID him then. He disappeared earlier that month, but no one reported hi…

It appears the heat wave has attracted sharks to the North Shore. According to the Sharktivity app, a Great White shark was spotted close to Plum Island on the morning of Monday, July 25. The Sharktivity App tracks sightings backed by researchers, safety officials and people who use the app to upload photos for confirmation. Each sighting is verified by the New England Aquarium. As global climate change has steadily increased the temperate Northeast waters, more and more sharks have been swimming closer to Massachusetts. This shift has essentially forced Great Whites to leave their typ…

Massachusetts Man, 71, Survives 50-Foot Fall During New Hampshire Hike
A 71-year-old Massachusetts man from the North Shore was seriously injured over the weekend after he fell 50 feet while hiking on a mountain in New Hampshire. Harvey Weener of Newburyport and a friend finished rock climbing at Mount Major on Saturday, July 9, around 4 p.m. As they were hiking their way out along the Precipice Trail, Weener slipped and fell 50 feet into a ravine about a mile from the trailhead, New Hampshire Fish and Wildlife officials said. He was too hurt to get out, and the rocky terrain made rescuing him difficult. Rescue workers had to use ropes …
