A 47-year-old man who died in a Western Massachusetts garage fire over the weekend was on trial for child sex abuse in Greenfield District Court, authorities said. Franklin County resident William Willey, of Montague, was killed in a two-alarm fire that tore through a garage at 90 East Street in Northfield on Sunday, Nov. 13, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office reports. Suspect Who Told 'Deer Story' Pleads Not Guilty In Death Of Massachusetts Pedestrian, DA Says
A Western Mass man who was arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian entered a plea in the case. Peter Toomey, age 51, of Northampton, pleaded not guilty in Greenfield District Court on Wednesday, June 9 to charges of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death; negligent motor vehicle homicide; and failure to stay in marked lanes, said Laurie Loisel, of the Northwestern District Attorney's Office. Nearly 80 Grams Of Crack, Cocaine Seized Following I-91 Chase
A speeding Kia led to a recent, major drug bust in Franklin County’s only city. On Thursday, Jan. 21, around 7 p.m., State Police Troopers patrolling Route 91 in Greenfield observed a gray Kia sedan allegedly making numerous marked lanes violations while speeding, police said. Troopers flicked on their emergency lights and sirens to get the Kia to pull over, but the vehicle allegedly accelerated and failed to stop for the officers, police said.
