Community Rallies To Help People Who Lost Cars In Springfield Fire
Springfield firefighters were able to beat back a brush fire on Wednesday, April 12, before anyone was hurt, but two cars weren't so lucky. Now, the community is rallying to help raise money to replace those destroyed rides. The fire started around 250 Albany St. near Gasoline Alley. Fundraiser For Family Of Central Mass Cop Who Died Off Duty Nears Its Goal
Friends of Worcester police Sgt. Derrick Leto created a fundraiser to help support his wife and two children to help them after his unexpected death last week. The GoFundMe called "Help Support Derrick Leto's Family" has raised nearly $7,000 in less than two days, more than half of its goal of $10,000. ) 'They Will Be Missed': Police ID Two 23-Year-Olds Killed In Central Mass Crash
Police in Worcester County identified two 23-year-olds as the victims killed in a head-on collision over the weekend, officials said. Jasmine Colon, of Winchendon, and Nikolas Guzman, of Gardner, died in a two-car collision in Gardner just before 6 a.m. on Green Street in Gardner, authorities said. Investigators believe Colon was driving, and Guzman was her passenger. Gardner firefighters had to cut them from the vehicle, and both were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The 22-year-old Lawrence man who was injured in a hit and run in Holyoke earlier this month has died, his family announced on a fundraiser.
