Stolen Gun, Drugs: Routine Traffic Stop Leads To Multiple Arrests In Western Mass Police in Springfield who were just following up on an unregistered vehicle got a lot more than they expected, bringing home two arrests, a loaded pistol, and trafficking weight of cocaine, authorities said.  The officers were near the Maple and Temple streets intersection on Friday, May 12, when they noticed the car and went to investigate. Mass Man Admits Filming Himself Steal Dozen Firearms From Federal Licensee A 19-year-old Massachusetts man admitted to breaking into a federal firearm licensee in New Hampshire and trying to steal a dozen firearms — and filming it, authorities announced. Gary Ortiz Jr., 19, of Haverhill, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to steal firearms from a federal firearms licensee, U.S. Attorney Jane E. Young said. He was indicted last July. Ortiz and one of his co-conspirators broke into Second Amendment Outdoors, a business in New Hampshire, and took 11 pistols and a rifle on Dec. 8, 2021, Young said. Fairfield County Man Sentenced For Selling Ghost Guns To Undercover Police Officer A Connecticut man was sentenced in federal court in Boston in connection with selling two “ghost guns.” Fairfield County resident, Brian McCarthy, age 33, of Bridgeport, was sentenced to 30 months in prison and two years of supervised release, according to the US Attorney's Office. McCarthy pleaded guilty to one count of dealing firearms without a federal license in May, officials said.  Between June and the end of July, McCarthy traveled to Massachusetts and sold an undercover officer two Glock-style privately made firearms -- or "ghost guns," -- he had personally fabricated.  …
