Western Mass Man Waving Gun Nabbed With Drugs, Police Say
A Western Massachusetts man was arrested after allegedly being caught with a high-capacity firearm and multiple illegal drugs.
Hampden County resident Carlos Maldonado, age 32, of Chicopee, was arrested on Tuesday, July 6, after Springfield officers were dispatched to the intersection of Lincoln Street and Federal Street at approximately 1 p.m. for a firearm call, said Ryan Walsh, spokesman for the Springfield Police.
According to Walsh, Maldonado was waving a gun while trying to get into a building located on Armory Street.

A Western Massachusetts man has been arrested after police seized a large-capacity firearm from his vehicle.
Shamal Thomas, age 21, of Springfield, was arrested on Thursday, June 17, after narcotic detectives received a tip that he was in possession of a firearm, said Springfield Police Spokesman Ryan Walsh.
Police found Thomas and the vehicle on Main Street and when they approached, located a loaded large-capacity firearm in his lap, Walsh said.

Two Western Mass men were busted with guns and drugs during a routine traffic stop by the Massachusetts State Police.
Joel Rodriguez, age 22, and George Black, age 24, both of Springfield, were arrested on Saturday, May 8, after being stopped just before 11 a.m. on Route 91 in Northampton, by Trooper Jeremy Burns, for having dark tinted windows, and a tinted registration plate cover that made the vehicle’s plate unreadable.

Two Western Mass men have been arrested for alleged possession of a handgun during a traffic stop.
The incident took place around 2:16 a.m., Wednesday, May 19, when a Holyoke Police officer stopped a brown Toyota Corolla for running a stoplight, said Captain Matthew F. Moriarty of the Holyoke PD.

A Western Mass man has been arrested for allegedly possessing firearms, cocaine, and cash during a search warrant execution.
Daniel Franco, age 38, of Springfield was arrested on Friday, April 30, when Springfield Police Narcotics detectives recovered two firearms, cocaine, and cash after executing a search warrant, said Springfield Police.
