Police Across Massachusetts Pay Respects To Police Dog Killed In Standoff A Massachusetts State Police K9 officer named Frankie died on Tuesday night, July 26, after a 38-year-old  suspect shot him during a standoff in Fitchburg earlier that day. The 11-year-old Belgian malinois is the first State Police dog to die in the line of duty, officials said.  Word traveled quickly through the rank and file of police offices across the state and country, and many of them have sent their condolences and thanks for Frankie's heroism and bravery during his eight years of loyal service.  Our thoughts are with the Massachusetts State Police as they mourn the loss of their…
