Teen Killed By Stepfather In Murder-Suicide Following Kidnapping: DA
A 16-year-old girl was killed on Thursday, May 30, after she was kidnapped by her stepfather and executed in a murder-suicide outside of her home in Acton, authorities said. Juliano Santana, 49, reportedly snatched the girl as she walked near her home on Great Road in Acton before driving her back to her house and killing her and then himself in his car, the Middlesex District Attorney said. Massachusetts is well-represented on U.S. News & World Report's latest rankings of the nation's best high schools. The brand-new rankings were released Tuesday, April 23, and determined by performance on state-required tests, graduation, and how well they prepare students for college. The highest-ranked school in Massachusetts is Boston Latin School, which is rated 27th nationally. These 10 Mass High Schools Rank Best In State In New U.S. News Report
A new U.S. News and World Report study ranked the top 10 Massachusetts public and charter high schools and crowned those who are best in class. The publication released the new state rankings on Tuesday, Aug. 29, grading schools on graduation rates, college readiness, and teacher-to-student ratio. Boston Latin School led the pack in Massachusetts with a graduation rate of 98 percent and a college readiness rating of 94.4. The school also ranked as one of the 50 best in the nation. Cycling Legend, 64, Dies From Wounds Following Acton Crash Last Month; Police Investigating
The Middlesex District Attorney's Office announced on Tuesday, Nov. 29, that police are investigating a fatal Oct. 31 wreck between a car and motorcycle in Acton. Philip Keyes, 64 of Acton, died weeks following the crash. Keyes was riding his motorcycle along Great Road when he crashed into an 82-year-old Chelmsford woman in a Subaru driving in the opposite direction around noon, authorities said. Two Killed After SUV Hits Deer In New England
Two people were killed on when their SUV hit a deer on a busy roadway in Massachusetts. The incident took place in Middlesex County on I-495 in Chelmsford around 4:50 a.m., Friday, June 3. When troopers arrived on the scene they discovered a 2016 Nissan Rogue driven by a 53-year-old Acton man in a stand of trees in the median, said Trooper Brandon Doherty. The man and his passenger were determined to be dead on the scene, Doherty said. The passenger is still in the process of being identified.
