“A sweet, smiling, confident young man” — that’s how friends and family described a college student from Pembroke, who died while out walking his dogs on New Year’s Eve. Callum Tomas DiCenso had just turned 20 when he suffered a cardiac arrest while walking his dogs, Piper and Kevin, on Sunday, Dec. 31. For Paula Garcia, there was nothing more important than her family. The Hampshire County, Massachusetts, mother of three lived for her children, her husband Joe Bock said in an interview with the Daily Voice. Paula was killed Tuesday, Jan. 9, while returning to her Easthampton home after the car she was in was hit by a tractor-trailer in Hartford, Connecticut, state police said. 'Loved By So Many': Friends Remember Oxford Man Killed In CT Dirt Bike Crash
Authorities have identified the 22-year-old Oxford, Massachusetts, man who died after crashing his dirt bike at Quaddick State Forest in Connecticut just days before Christmas. Steven Zografos was riding in in Windham County, in the town of Thompson, on Saturday, Dec. 23, when he crashed with another dirt bike rider just before 4 p.m., NBC Connecticut reported. State fire officials have identified the woman who was killed in a Franklin County fire as a 65-year-old Orange woman, authorities said. Debra Marini died several hours after she was seriously burned last week in a blaze at 99 West River Street in Orange, the State Fire Marshal's Office said on Tuesday. The homeowner, Vicki Kennedy, was also seriously hurt in the fire, but authorities said she is expected to recover. A fundraiser has been created for the family of a Waltham police officer who was killed in the line of duty earlier this month in a hit-and-run crash that left another person dead and two others hospitalized. The body of a Berkshire County-born US Airman killed in Japan will return home on Friday, Dec. 15, and the community has planned a public funeral procession to honor his sacrifice. Staff Sgt. Jacob Galliher, age 24, of Pittsfield, died when the Osprey he was in crashed near the island of Yakushima, Japan, on Nov. 29 during a training exercise. Coworkers and friends of the 44-year-old Massachusetts woman who was killed by a shark while on vacation in the Bahamas say they are heartbroken and shocked by her death. Lauren Van Wart, of Lowell, located northwest of Boston, was attacked by a shark on Monday, Dec. 4, about a mile from Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort while she was paddleboarding with a relative, the Royal Bahamas Police Force said.
