'I Just Need Little More Tang': Pizza Guru Portnoy Left Stumped By Milton Pizzeria
Barstool Sports President Dave Portnoy thought he was being tricked. Portnoy visited the Peel Pizza at 538 Adams St. for his "One Bite Pizza Review" YouTube show last week and couldn't believe he'd never been there. The restaurant is within walking distance of the original Milton office of Barstool Sports at 75 Adams Street, and it opened in 2013 when he and several others were plugging away at the original version of the sports and gambling website. Portnoy hit several pizzerias during his most recent, event-filled trip home to Massachusetts. His visit included taking the stage to sing "Revival" with the Zac Brown Band at Fenway Park and getting "lost at sea" (his words) off the coast of Nantucket and needing rescue by the Coast Guard. 'Not My Vibe' Popular Pizza Guru Renders Verdict On 'Massachusetts Institution'
Despite slingin’ pies for nearly eight decades, this “Massachusetts institution” didn’t quite impress self-proclaimed pizza expert Dave Portnoy. The 47-year-old Barstool Sports owner found himself in Essex County, at Tripoli Pizza & Bakery in Lawrence, for the latest edition of his “One Bite Pizza Reviews” YouTube series that was posted Tuesday, July 16. Founded by the Zappala family in 1924, the business started selling fresh bread and Italian pastries from its Common Street bakery. In 1944, they introduced their signature thin-crust pies on the coast at Salisbury Beach, which proved t…

Mass Pizzeria Dubbed 'Culinary Gem' Serves Up Best Pies In The US: Report
A Massachusetts eatery that offers both pizza and fresh oysters has been recognized by The New York Times as serving up some of the best pies – and most unique experiences – in America. The New York Times published its list, dubbed “22 of the Best Pizza Places in the United States” on Wednesday, July 26, highlighting fantastic pies across the country. Only one Massachusetts restaurant, located in Essex County was honored on the list, which reporter Brett Anderson describes as a “Neapolitan pizzeria crossed with a New England oyster bar.” The restaurant in question? Short & Main, loc…
