Investigators ID Cause Of Fatal Revere Fire
The fire that killed an 80-year-old man in Revere on Monday, July 15, was likely sparked by a cigarette, investigators said. Firefighters were called to the 104 Patriot Parkway home at about 5:45 a.m. to find heavy smoke pouring out of the house. Crews were told the elderly man had limited mobility and was trapped inside, the state Fire Marshal's Office said. Firefighters were able to get the man out of the house and to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. A former Weymouth police officer who was caught on video camera beating a handcuffed suspect will not serve any jail time, federal authorities said. Justin Chappell, 43, was sentenced to two years of supervised release, with the first six months to be spent under house arrest, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said on Tuesday, July 16. Authorities have identified a 20-year-old man as the shooter at a Worcester County house party in May that left a teenage boy dead. Police are asking the public to help track the man down. Authorities say a fire that began on the second-story balcony of an apartment in North Andover started when a lithium-ion battery exploded Firefighters were called to 99 Edgelawn Ave. just before 6:30 p.m. on July 7. Police Investigating Triple Stabbing In Holbrook
Police in Holbrook are investigating a triple stabbing that happened early Saturday morning, July 13. Officers received a 911 call around 3:30 a.m. about the attack near 166 Longmeadow Drive, Holbrook police said. When they arrived, police found two men and one woman suffering from stab wounds. Motorcyclist Killed In Groton Crash ID'd As 27-Year-Old Man
Police have identified the 27-year-old motorcyclist who was killed in a head-on crash earlier this week in Groton. Cody Trudel, of Ayer, died after his bike was struck head-on along Boston Road just after 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office said. Investigators believe the driver of an oncoming car in the westbound lane veered into his lane. The 20-year-old Townsend driver of that car remained at the scene. A 33-year-old Cape Cod level-three sex offender who was convicted last year on multiple charges including indecent assault on a minor and child porn now faces more charges, authorities said. State police are asking for the public's help to identify a tractor-trailer that crashed into a Mansfield fire truck on I-495 over the weekend and drove away.
